Do I need to create an account?
No account required. Open the page, upload a photo, and download your emoji art — no email, no password, no registration.
Is there a watermark on the downloaded image?
Never. Every download is a clean PNG with no watermark, no logo overlay, and no attribution required (though a mention is always appreciated!).
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes — the tool is fully responsive and tested on iOS Safari (iPhone and iPad) and Android Chrome. Modern mobile browsers work without any installation.
Do I need to install anything?
Nothing to install or update. PhotoFromEmojiAI is a pure browser-based tool — open the URL and start generating immediately.
Privacy & Data
Does the AI upload my photos?
Never. Every step of the AI processing runs inside your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, and no photo data is transmitted to any server.
Are my photos stored anywhere?
No. When you close the tab, the image is cleared from browser memory. There is no persistent storage of any kind.
Does PhotoFromEmojiAI collect any data about me?
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (page views, session duration) to understand how the tool is used. No personally identifiable information or image data is collected. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Using the Tool
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WEBP. Most photos straight from a phone or digital camera work without any conversion.
How does the AI match emojis to colours?
It uses the DeltaE94 perceptual colour-difference formula in LAB colour space — the same standard used in professional printing and design labs to compare colours as the human eye perceives them, not just raw RGB numbers.
How do I get a more detailed result?
Lower the Analysis Window slider. A smaller block size scans more areas, placing more emojis and producing a finer, more recognisable mosaic.
Why does my result look too dark or mostly black emojis?
Enable the "Hide Black / Transparent" toggle and raise Match Tolerance slightly. This filters out heavy dark emojis and gives the AI more options for shadowed areas.
How do I get print-quality output?
Set Output Emoji Size to 20–30px before clicking generate. The larger the emoji size, the higher the canvas resolution, making the result suitable for large-format printing.
What is the Analysis Window setting?
It controls the pixel size of each block the AI scans from your photo. Smaller = finer detail (more emojis). Larger = more abstract, chunky result (fewer emojis). Start at 7px for most photos.
Can I use a custom emoji set?
The tool currently uses the built-in system emoji set rendered by your browser. Custom emoji sets are not yet supported.
Why do some emojis look different on different devices?
Emoji rendering is controlled by your operating system and browser. iPhone emojis look different to Android emojis. The AI matches colours based on how your device renders them, so results can vary slightly between platforms.

Can I use the emoji art commercially?
The emojis used in the mosaic and your original photo may carry their own intellectual property rights. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have appropriate permissions. See our Terms of Service for full details.
Who owns the generated emoji art?
You retain ownership of your original photo. The generated mosaic is a derivative work — please review applicable copyright law in your jurisdiction before commercial use.
